Love these guys for making a complicated government process so much easier — literally could not have done it without them. They look after everything and are a pleasure to deal with.

★★★★★

Pool fence certification for our ACT investment property was quick and easy thanks to Tom. Clear guidance, helpful explanations, and a smooth process throughout.

★★★★★

Our certification needed to be done promptly. From the point of contact to the certificate being lodged with council took less than 24 hours. I was super impressed with Tom and the team.

★★★★★

Tom was amazing! He came out the same day I called, certified my pool fence, and handled all the paperwork. Super efficient and professional — perfect for anyone with a busy schedule.

★★★★★

From the first time I called Pool Barrier Certification to obtaining our Form 23, Rob, Tom & Pauline have been absolutely fantastic to deal with. Will definitely use them again.

★★★★★

Highly recommend Tom's Pool Barrier Certification service. He was thorough and quick. Tom was able to arrange all the necessary changes to ensure that even our older pool was able to become compliant in a very cost-effective way.

★★★★★

What a pleasantly easy process this was. If only dealing with council was this straight forward. Robert was very helpful in getting the pool fencing checked. Bella arranged the appointment and sent details I needed for council.

How it works

From inspection to certificate.

1

Inspect

A VBA-registered inspector attends your property and handles the full inspection on your behalf — gates, latches, climbable zones, the lot. You don't need to be home for the inspection itself; we'll send through the certificate and the next steps as soon as we're done.

2

Coordinate

Where rectification is required, we coordinate with the appropriate trade, oversee the work, and re-inspect on completion. You’re kept informed throughout, without having to manage tradies yourself.

3

Certify & lodge

Once compliant, we issue your Certificate of Pool Barrier Compliance and lodge Form 23 with your local council. You receive a confirmation copy for your records.

A streamlined certification process, managed end-to-end. Here’s what to expect.

Who we help

Why pool owners come to us.

Selling your home

A current Certificate of Compliance is required before settlement can complete. We work with vendors and real estate agents on tight timelines, including pre-listing assessments and post-listing rectification.

Rentals & property managers

Updated landlord obligations require a current Certificate of Compliance before each new tenancy. We service rental portfolios with quick turnaround and reports formatted for property managers.

Overdue certificate

If your certificate has lapsed or you’ve received a council notice, we can prioritise a fast-track inspection and lodgement to bring your barrier back into compliance.

Family safety

Pool barrier standards exist to keep children safe. A thorough compliance check gives you confidence that your barrier is doing its job, beyond just meeting the legal requirement.

Who you’re hiring

Family-run. Safety and compliance-focused. On time, every time.

Our team has certified over 5,000 pools — from inner-Melbourne terraces to ACT investment properties — handling the full process on your behalf, from on-site inspection through to Form 23 lodgement with your local council.

"After hearing all the horror stories from other people about getting their pool certified, we were dreading it. Thoroughly recommend this company."

Common questions

Pool compliance, your questions answered.

Six questions we hear every week. If yours isn’t here, give us a call we’re happy to talk it through.

Yes — the certificate covers the barrier around the pool, not how often the pool is used. If your pool can hold water deeper than 300mm, the rules apply whether you swim every day or never.

Yes. Spas and hot tubs with water depth over 300mm are treated the same as pools in Victoria — same barrier rules, same Form 23 lodgement, same four-year cycle. A lockable spa cover is a great backup, but on its own it doesn’t replace a compliant barrier.

A full inspection with Form 23 lodgement is $299 + GST, all in. That covers the on-site inspection, the certificate where compliant, and council lodgement on your behalf. We also offer a $99 + GST FaceTime consultation if you want a quick read first (credited toward the full inspection if you book within 30 days), and a $199 + GST gate service if the gate is the only thing that needs attention.

Yes — that’s part of the standard $299 + GST service. We handle the on-site inspection, repairs we can do on the spot, the Form 23 certificate, and lodgement with your local council. You don’t deal with council at any point.

Yes. Minor gate and latch work we handle on the spot through our $199 + GST gate service. For anything bigger — fencer, glazier, child-resistant door — we coordinate the right trade on your behalf and re-inspect at no extra charge once it’s done. You don’t chase quotes or manage trades.

Every four years. When we lodge your certificate we set a reminder for about three months before re-certification falls due, so you get a friendly email nudge from us — not a council notice.

We’re based across Melbourne’s pool-heavy suburbs — Inner East, Bayside & Inner South, Mornington Peninsula, Outer East & Yarra Valley — and we also travel to regional and rural Victoria regularly. We’re VBA-registered in Victoria (IN-PS 100044) and registered in the ACT (SP0012), so we cover Canberra and the ACT surrounds too. If your area isn’t on our standard list, give us a call — we’ll always do our best to help, and we welcome regional and bulk bookings.

Ideally yes — not the whole time, but it helps to be on-site so we can talk you through the outcome and any next steps before we leave. If you can’t be there, we can work with your property manager, vendor’s agent or a tenant given the right brief. Just let us know at booking.

Most residential pool inspections take 45 to 90 minutes on-site. If your barrier is compliant, you’ll have your certificate the same day, and we’ll lodge Form 23 with council within 1–2 business days. If something needs fixing, we tell you exactly what’s required there and then — most minor fixes we handle on the spot.

Registration is the property record kept by your council confirming a pool exists. Certification is the compliance assessment lodged via Form 23. Most Victorian properties need both, but they’re separate steps. We handle the certification side; council handles the registration record on file.

Practically, no — conveyancers and buyers’ solicitors will look for evidence of a current certificate before settlement. Good news: tight-deadline jobs are something we handle every week, and we can usually attend a metro property within 48 hours.

Non-climbable-zone breaches and gate failures, by a long way. A planter, BBQ or piece of garden furniture that’s drifted within 900mm of the fence is one of the most common — usually a 15-minute fix. The gate is the other big one: latches that have drifted, hinges that have sagged, the gate not self-closing reliably. We fix the minor repairs on the spot, so you walk away certified.
